A Longitudinal Study of Three-dimensional Ultrasonographic Assessment of the Placenta in Uncomplicated Pregnancies

چکیده
Copyright © 2012. Korean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology Placental vascularization is important for normal pregnancy. The circulatory function of the placenta appears at an early stage of embryo-placental development and is strongly related to fetal growth, placental volume, and uterine blood flow. Therefore, adequate placental angiogenesis is critical for the establishment of normal placental vascularization with subsequent normal development of the fetus [1,2]. Recent advances in technology allow the combination of 3-dimensional (3-D) ultrasound with power Doppler, making it possible to quantify Doppler signals in a volume obtained by 3D scanning and allowing investigation of the placental circulation. Each calculation of the vascularization index (VI), flow index (FI), and vascularization-flow index (VFI) is defined through technological quantification, and these indices are thought to reflect the number of vessels within the volume of interest, the intensity of flow at the time of the 3-D sweep, and both blood flow and vascularization [3]. Imaging and assessment of placental function.
The placenta is the vital support organ for the developing fetus. This article reviews current ultrasound (US) methods of assessing placental function. The ability of ultrasound to detect placental pathology is discussed. Doppler technology to investigate the fetal, placental, and maternal circulations in both high-risk and uncomplicated pregnancies is discussed and the current literature on th...
متن کاملUltrasonographic Evaluation of Placenta Thickness and Fetal Cord Cross Section in Gestational Diabetes Mothers Compared to Control Group
Background The metabolic enhancement resulted from hyperglycemia in gestational diabetes leads to macrosomia, which can affect the placenta. In gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) pregnant women, the thickness of placenta and cord diameter can change at ages prior to treatment initiation. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the thickness of placenta an...
متن کاملThree-dimensional Power Doppler Ultrasonographic Evaluation of Induced Cystitis in Dogs
Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate if three-dimensional power Doppler (3DPD) ultrasound (US) can detect bacterial cystitis in dogs better than two-dimensional (2D) US. Animals: Six mixed breed dogs Procedures: Ten ml of 0.1% alcoholic solution of salicylic acid was entered into the urinary bladder of six male mixed-breed dogs by catheter. Twenty four hours later, culture sol...

متن کاملEvaluation of strain and strain rate parameters using two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography in patients with coronary artery disease (Research Article)
The study aimed was to measure left ventricular (LV) strain using speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) for assessment of LV function. Eighty-two subjects (mean age 57±9 years) with suspected chest pain underwent two-dimensional (2D)-echocardiography before coronary angiography. Conventional echocardiographic parameters were used for the assessment of LV function. Longitudinal strain and its ...
